Choosing an oil is more than choosing a bottle

Why does one botanical oil feel light while another creates a rich protective layer? Why might two seemingly similar oils behave completely differently on the skin? And what can their fatty acid profiles, vitamins, sterols and other naturally occurring compounds tell us?

Simple Guide into the World of Oils was created to help answer those questions — not by prescribing one “best” oil, but by giving you the knowledge to understand the differences.

This book doesn't tell you what to think

It gives you tools to understand why.

There are no miracle oils and no universal answers. Skin, circumstances and purposes differ — and botanical oils differ too.

Whether you're discovering botanical oils for the first time or already work with them professionally, the aim is the same: to replace guesswork with curiosity, understanding and informed choice.

Who is this book for?

Curious beginners
For those who want to understand botanical oils rather than simply follow recommendations.

Skincare enthusiasts
For those ready to look beyond marketing claims and explore what makes individual oils different.

Practitioners & bodyworkers
For professionals who work with oils and want a practical reference within easy reach.

Formulators & makers
For those exploring botanical ingredients, blending and infusions with greater understanding.

Take a look inside

From quick reference to deeper understanding — and from knowledge to practice.

Why I wrote this book

My fascination with botanical oils began long before I knew the words fatty acids, unsaponifiables or skin barrier. Some of my earliest memories are of walking through the forests of Latvia with my grandmother, gathering plants and learning that nature rarely gives us simple, one-size-fits-all answers.

Years later, the same questions kept appearing — from clients, workshop participants and fellow practitioners:

Which oil should I use? Which one is best?

My answer was rarely the name of a single oil.

I wanted people to understand why one oil might be a wonderful choice in one situation and a completely different oil in another. Because knowledge should not create dependence on someone else's recommendations. It should give us the confidence to ask questions, understand our choices and make informed decisions for ourselves.

Simple Guide into the World of Oils grew from that idea.

It is my way of sharing the fishing rod rather than simply handing out another fish.
